What will the LNRS look like?
What will the LNRS look like?
The LNRS will be made up of a statement of biodiversity priorities and a local habitat map.
What is a statement of biodiversity priorities?
- It explains what’s most important for helping nature recover in our area.
- It describes the local landscape and the types of plants and animals found here.
- It highlights where we can improve or protect nature, such as creating new habitats or restoring existing ones.
- It sets out the main goals for boosting biodiversity, and how this can also support things like cleaner air, better water quality, and climate resilience.
- It suggests practical actions that could help achieve these goals.
Why it matters?
The strategy brings together what we already know about the local environment and wildlife. It helps everyone agree on what we’re aiming to do and outlines the steps we can take to make it happen.
Local Habitat Map
What the habitat map shows:
- It’s an interactive map that highlights where nature recovery could happen.
- It also points out other places that are, or could become, especially important for wildlife.
- Some areas are highlighted because improving nature there could also help with things like cleaner air, better water quality or reducing flood risk.
Why it’s useful
The map is a simple visual tool to help people and organisations see which areas matter most for nature and the environment, so they know where to focus their efforts.
